There were always blokes that wandered about in search of a chick.
He called me up every evening until one day I decided to face him up yelling at him “I´m not a bit scared!”
It happened to me years ago when I was living with my partner. I would arrive home from work and I would ask him if there had been any calls for me. He burst out laughing saying “Your evening lover hasn´t called up yet!”. “Hasn´t he?”
I changed my clothes and I started to prepare our supper and as soon as we sat at the table to eat, the telephone rang.
It was always at around nine in the evening. I was sometimes with my partner and I was sometimes alone, but he was punctual to call up.
I took the receiver to answer, but I never heard any voice, apart from someone gasping and the sound of a clock that had been placed near the telephone.
It could have been scary taking into account that my partner travelled a lot because of his work and the flat where we lived was fairly big. More than scary it was annoying to leave whatever I was doing to answer the telehone.
On one of those evenings when it happened I was alone, I heard the telephone for umpteenth time. Then, I heard the gasps and the clock.
I asked whoever was on the other end. There was no response. I only heard his gasps and the clock. I told him as loud as I could that whoever was calling me up, I was not scared and that I was going to report it to the police and whoever it was would be traced easily.
After that evening in which I lost my temper facing him up I never received one of those calls.
Cities are full of creeps and frustrated men searching for a chick no matter how. Obviously, it is more dangerous when one is walking in the streets going home. But when it happens through a telephone, the best way is to face up the coward yelling “You know what? You aren´t frightening me a bit, but you´re a real nuisance. You better stop this or you´ll be sorry for the rest of your life, because I know how to defend myself!” This to be repeated several times at the top of one´s voice.
