A story I wrote about four crew members on a journey to reach their home island.
Short Story: The S.S Anglican
On the S.S Anglican, there were four crew members. Alex, Jason, Eric, and Amir. They had given up everything including their families to be on the maiden voyage of the Anglican. The sea was calm and the sky was cloudy which warrants a good day on the sea. Today Captain Alex was steering the ship towards an island, but all we could see were the ocean waters and the horizon. Even though the captain knew they were going in the right direction, he knew it would take a long time to get there. Out of nowhere a loud BANG! was heard as a cannon ball came towards our ship. We were left with two decisions to give up, or fight for our survival.
“Quick! Everyone get their weapons” said Alex. The crew members rushed to all parts of the boat, gathering any spears, cannons, flares, or anything they could find. Jason sharpened his big spear as he was afraid of no one, but everyone was afraid of him. The water splashed onto the boat as the waves grew bigger and rougher. The clouds were darkening to a blackish color. The wind picked up and swirled the splashing water as if it were rain. The conditions grew worse as a thick layer of fog surrounded the boat and the area around it. “We cannot see ahead” said the first hand Eric. Alex said to himself “Lost”, as he wondered what was in store for them next.
As Alex, Eric, Justin, and Amir looked ahead to see what was there, out came a tall man on a ship with a dagger in his hand. He wears a short sleeved shirt and long pants, with a jacket on top. A serious face was on him as he stared at our ship. “What do you want?” said Jason. “I want your crew member Amir” as he pointed towards him. Amir stood up, “Why are you here Armando”? The crew was surprised, how could their crew member Amir know the enemy? “Amir”, how do you know this man named Armando? said Eric. “I lived in the same building as him”. “But you’re not going to like this captain”. “Why not”? said Alex. “I have his gold”. Alex was stunned, “You mean the gold coins that everyone is looking for?” he said annoyed that his crew member made them a target. “No wonder we’ve been under attack” Alex stated. “Now give him the coins”, “I fear for our safety as we will not make it unless you give him what he wants” he feared.
