In the small town of Glennbrooke the warm feeling of the holidays was upon everyone’s mind.  Christmas was in full swing, and the town was lit up and decorated to the fullest extent.  Everyone was bustling about.  It was evening the sky was dark and a light snow fell on this ornate town.  Everyone was out and about.  In Glennbrooke everyone knew everybody.  It was very peaceful and friendly. 

A few town officers roamed the center of town, walking and laughing with their fellow townspeople.  Children stood in front of a general store window in awe at the magnificent Christmas display.  People doing some last minute shopping carried gifts and packages down the street.  Christmas carolers stood on the corner chanting a well-known Christmas song.  Children ran about tossing snowballs and laughing, as Christmas was soon to come.  An old man ringing a bell collecting for the Salvation Army said, “Merry Christmas” to everyone who walked by.  Everything was picture perfect, and nothing ever out of the ordinary ever happened.

Seth, teenage boy about sixteen, walked down the busy sidewalk and stopped to stare across the street at a girl.  She was around the same age as Seth.  She stood and laughed with her friends, as Seth stood in awe at her beauty.  Seth’s moment of heaven was interrupted, as he was smashed in the face with a snowball from his by standing friends.  Seth’s two best friends, Murray and Guff, laughed hysterically at his infatuation with Emily.  Guff yelled, “Come on Seth, do you actually think you have the slightest chance with her?”

Seth wiped the snow from his face and shoved Guff to the side as he sat down on a small snow pile.  Seth says with a sigh, “Look at her, isn’t she the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?”

Murray and Guff start to laugh hysterically, and mock Seth for his obsession.  Murray helps up Seth, “Come on lover boy, let’s go back to my place, my parents are out of town and we can party there for the next three days.”

The three walk down the street and into the housing area of the town.  They start to walk through people’s yards being very obnoxious and making a lot of noise.  They start to wrestle in the snow.  Seth and Guff start to role around in the snow.  Murray starts to cheer the two on, and decides that he wants to jump into this skirmish also.  Murray begins to run and jumps into the air as Seth is getting up.  Murray slams into Seth and knocks him down again.  The three are laughing and having a grand time when Guff throws Murray off Seth’s back.  Murray flies through the air and lands in a big thump.  Seth runs over to Murray wanting to give him another wallop when he realizes Murray isn’t moving.  Seth shakes Murray in a fury.  Seth stands up realizing that Murray is no longer conscious.  Guff runs up not yet knowing what happened still laughing at the situation.  As Seth turns around Guff sees the look of terror in his eyes.  Guff stops laughing, “What’s the matter dude?”
