A fictional short story about the drama of relationships.

The spider’s web stretches from branch to branch.  Unharmed by the breeze that tousles all the leaves, the spider’s web remains strong.  It will stay in that tree forever maybe, maybe.  One day someone or something may pull it down, but maybe not, maybe not.  A world of heartbreak surrounds us all; is it possible to remain strong?  The student gets up from her spot by the tree.  Just as she steps onto the pathway, the real world hits her hard.  A couple walks next to her, and she knows their secret.  As she catches a glimpse of the girl’s eyes she knows the stories are true.

I’m not the only soul accused of hit and run

Tire tracks all across your back

I can see you had your fun

                                                            -Jimi Hendrix

It was a warm September night, much warmer than usual, the kind of night that makes you want someone to love.  That word had been thrown around so often, that it meant nothing.  She was out with a friend, who was getting a little too friendly.  The line was right in front of her and she knew that she could either step back, or cross it.  She let him kiss her.  Oh they did more than just kiss but the door was closed, so the student saw no more, but everyone at the party said they had done more.
