A story based on the picture "Freedom From Fear", by Norman Rockwell.

“Mom, I don’t want to go to school,” I said today, just like every other day.  That’s how I start my morning.  Today Mom was in formal clothes.  I figured my mom was going somewhere for lunch, because mom normally doesn’t wear formal wear.  I got up and ate breakfast.  I finished just in time for school.  I followed my sister out the door and then since my school was very near, I just ran to school in the nick of time.  If I arrived one minute later, it would have been late and I would have been scolded by my teacher.  It is not pretty when she scolds someone.  It feels like the opposite of heaven.  I know this because, it has happened to me.  I felt so happy with myself that I congratulated myself.  Every day I have math first. Math is my least favorite subject and today I had a test!

The test got over with no mishap.  I actually think I did well.  Mom will be happier than a monkey with a banana.  Next was science, my favorite subject.  Unfortunately there was big mishap here.  The school bully punched me.  He had evil reddish eyes, a red shirt that says bad stuff that I am not going to repeat, and finally he had the bulkiest body in the whole school. Even though he was creepy I stood up to him and kicked him.  The bad part was that I was the one in terrible trouble because the teacher saw me kick him and did not have evidence to prove him guilty and that left me in a bad position.

After that incident, we had a bomb drill.  This was about what action we take if a bomb really hits us.  I hope this never happens.  I ran to my next class, which was English.  We had to write a story about our life so far.  The best story would get $100.  Since I was good at writing, I decided to try really hard.  I worked harder than a laborer, in the hope that it would pay off as my parents needed that money.
