A story of acceptance, something humanity does not know how to do…
Father: Come out with me today. We will have a father daughter day.
Daughter: Okay Dad.
Father: So what do you want to eat?
Daughter: How about Chili’s?
Father: Okay.
At Chili’s
Daughter: Thanks Dad.
Father: No problem honey. So tell me about this new girlfriend of yours?
Daughter: Oh she is good.
Father: Is she treating you good?
Daughter: Yes Dad, she is. She is one of the best relationships I have had so far.
Father: That is good. Just don’t fall for the U-haul trap.
Daughter: U-haul trap?
Father: When two lesbians or bisexual women date each other for a short period of time and then decide to move in with
each other.
Daughter: Oh don’t worry Dad. I have to be with someone for at least 2-3 years before that happens.
Random Woman: What? You’re a dyke? Stay the hell away from me. You’re the devil! You’ll corrupt my children! You sinner! God will never accept you into the Kingdom of Heaven!
Daughter proceeds to cry.
Father: Don’t worry daughter, it is just ignorance. We both know that homosexuals don’t corrupt children or anyone else for that matter. It is just a sexual preference. Also, no one knows what happens after they die. That woman is just scared of what she doesn’t understand. Remember, it is human nature to fear what they don’t understand and in time that breeds hate which leads to wars. You remember learning that in your history books.
Daughter with tears in her eyes: Still Dad, it’s hard when everyone hates people like me and think that homosexuality is a choice.
Father: Well, my daughter we both know it’s not a choice. Who would choose to live a life where you get treated like nothing more than dirt? It’s a miracle that New York even passed Same Sex Marriage. However, I am happy you don’t have to go out of state to get married now if you choose to marry.
Daughter: It hurts that I am not accepted.
Father: Kid, even if you were straight you would still have people that hate you and would try to use you for everything your worth.
Daughter: Why do humans have to be so cruel?
Father: It is just the way life is sweetie. Don’t worry though, you have talents and are going places. People might hate you now but that will soon pass. Be careful though of those who flock to you when you become successful. Those are the ones to stay away from. The people who love you for you now are the ones to stay in contact with.
Daughter: Thanks Dad.
Father: Don’t worry my daughter. You will do great regardless of what these hateful conservative people think of you. It just means you are strong. I love you! Now I will take you back home.
Daughter: I love you too Dad! Thank you.
