I am quite sure that many of you will already be knowing this story, but for those who don’t, let me share it with you guys…

Once a king called upon one of the wisest men in his court. He gave the wise man a diamond ring and said, “If you are very wise, inscribe something in the ring that will make me happy when I am sad and make me sad when I am happy!”

The wise man thought for a while and took a needle and started doodling in the ring. He then gave it to the king. In the ring was written, “This too shall pass…”

I think this story is a great reminder of the fact that nothing is permanent in life. Joys and sorrows, happiness and grief are all mere facets of life. This story teaches you to be humble in your achievements as they may be only temporary and to have the moral courage to stick it till the end during a crises. It gives us the strength to not end our life during an adversity because we are aware that the situation will improve very soon. As they say, “It is always darkest just before the day dawns…” During happy times, we have to realise that this too will pass,so we have to make the most of it…Concentrate only on the happiness of life rather than crabbing about the trivial nuisances in your life… Make sure you capture these memories in writing or photos or whatever ,so that you can reminisce such moments throughout your life..

Wishing all my friends in Triond fewer troubles and lots and loads of happiness :)

by the way, the king a bit weird, when he’s happy, to make him sad, I laughed at this. :)

It is written with great value building themes and teaches us to appreciate the gift of life. I agree with you that happiness is a matter of choice. Nice story!

If we think “this too shall pass by,” I’m sure we can overcome any problems. Thnx for sharing this beautiful post.

What a lovely story; I use the phrase “this too shall pass” often and it is so true with life…
