LIGHTS UP ON THE PARLOR OF AN OLD HOUSE. IT IS ABANDONED, SHEETS COVER THE OLD FURNITURE, COBWEBS LINE THE CORNERS AND A THICK LAYER OF DUST COVERS EVERYTHING. THE FURNITURE AND DECORATIONS SHOULD VARY IN STYLE, SOME VICTORIAN, REGENCY, SOME MODERN, OR 40′S- A BIG MASH UP OF MANY DIFFERENT TIME PERIODS BUT ALL AGED AND WORN. MANY PAINTINGS LINE THE WALLS BUT ONE STANDS OUT IN PARTICULAR. IT’S A LARGE GOLDEN FRAME, AND THE SUBJECT IS A YOUNG WOMAN, EARLY 20′S DRESSED IN A VICTORIAN STYLE GOWN; VERONICA.  FROM STAGE LEFT ENTERS A REALTOR, WILLIAM CHADWICK, MID 30′S, SUIT AND TIE, DARK HAIR. CLOSE BEHIND HIM IS ROSE, LATE 20′S BRUNETTE- RECENTLY DIVORCED- LOOKS A LITTLE WORN OUT, BUT VERY PRETTY NON-THE-LESS.  VERONICA WATCHES ATTENTIVELY FROM HER PAINTING.

WILLIAM

And here we have Filby Manor. It’s dated all the way back to the Victorian age, and is mostly in its original state. About ten years ago an elderly lady moved in and fixed it up a bit, but she died and the house has been empty ever since.

ROSE (Brushing away a cobweb)

I can tell.

WILLIAM

Yes, quite… Anyway, there are 4 bedrooms, and 3 ½ baths, in addition to the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. This right here is the parlor.

ROSE

The parlor…hmmm…And all the furniture is included?

WILLIAM

Yes, many of the pieces we see here are genuine antiques.

ROSE

Genuine?

(He nods. ROSE takes a breath and then grabs WILLIAM by the lapel of his jacket and pulls him closer to her, she speaks in a hushed tone, as if there was someone else there to over hear her.)
