This is a true story. Can anyone explain to me why decent people get walked over, and only the ruthless and dishonest ones prosper in life?
A Tale about Injustice
When Karen’s husband died, her home was a hard place to live in, as the children were all grown up and gone, with their own lives to lead. She didn’t want to be a burden on them, so together with her faithful dog Purdy, and cat Charley, she moved to HERNE BAY to be near her elderly dad. He was 90 years old at the time, and she was lucky enough to spend the last 3 years of his life living close to him.
HERNE BAY, for the benefit of anyone not living in England, is in the south east corner of the UK, and it enjoys the most sunshine, and the least rain of the whole country. The only downside is the North wind in the winter, but Karen just puts on a warm coat and gets out there, because it’s a beautiful place with many varied and interesting walks.
Moving there was the best thing she ever did, as she met her partner Sam which has given her the opportunity to rebuild her life. They both shared an interest in houses, and as it had always been a dream of hers to live in a house overlooking the sea, when a piece of land came up for sale in BISHOPSTONE, which is just a mile away from HERNE BAY, and situated right in the middle of a beautiful Country Park, he didn’t take much persuading to become interested.
They bought the land, put in plans to build themselves a cottage style house which looked in character with the 2 other houses around it, and after a while they got Planning permission from the local Council. Because of the sensitive area they were building in , certain conditions were imposed, but they were happy to accept them because this was going to be their dream home.
The house was built within a few months, and they moved in as soon as it was habitable. The garden took a bit longer to landscape as the ground slopes down, and she pushed Sam along to finish it as quickly as possible, as although they only had neighbours on one side, they didn’t want them to put up with mess and inconvenience indefinitely. The neighbours were absolutely wonderful, not a murmur of complaint, and when their garden was finished, Karen and Sam were so happy, their mission was accomplished, and all the noise and mess was over and done with.
