A few months ago, I accompanied my parents to the countryside with the aim of starting a chicken farm. I have to say I was excited with the idea of starting a small business but never did I ever fathom that this trip would change my perspective on a vegan diet forever.

The chicken I am talking about are the type of chickens you get in any supermarket or any markets where you can buy meat. They are fed day and night. They hardly get to move and dont actually move much because they grow so fast their muscles hardly get the time to adjust to the rapid growth. As a consequence, they are big soggy creatures that keep toppling whenever they try to stand. They are called broiled chicken. The chickens are ready to be sold to the market in 45 days and they are completely sold within 60 days. So you can imagine how fast they grow. Some of them look sick because their feathers dont evern get sufficient time to grow. Disgusting.
A normal chicken (or known as a local chicken) takes about at least 6 months to be fully grown and ready to be eaten. A local chicken has firm meat as opposed to the soft soggy meat of the broiled chicken.
Due to reasons that are not relevant to this topic, I rejected the idea of starting a chicken farm. But when I returned home, I subconsciously started avoiding chicken meat and am starting to take a keen interest these days on a vegan diet.
I did not really used to like vegetarian food but I think now I am turning into a vegan. I guess its a blessing in disguise as vegetables seem to taste better. I dont know how long its going to last but I am liking it so far.
