A true Ghost Story that might make you ponder over the existence of ghosts.

Do ghosts exist? Some say they do, others deny. However, one incident that a friend of mine narrated to me recently asserts that ghosts might exist after all. This friend of mine often pays a visit to her grandmother who lives in a village.

So during her vacations, she went to her grandmothers home to stay for a few days. It is a cottage with lots a muddy compound and a well in it as well. Grandma’s house is like the one we read about in books or stories.

In addition, her grandma is an excellent cook, a wonderful storyteller and a great gardener. There is just one problem. The time when grandma’s cottage was constructed, there was no concept of in-built bathrooms and toilets. So in her home, the toilet was at a distance of twenty steps from the house, near the well.

My friend even though an adult now, loves to listen to her grand ma’s stories. So on one such night, when the air outside was chill outside and the moon was round and full, grandma started to tell her one of her creepy stories about a haunted mansion.

Once the story was over, everyone went to sleep. The problem started somewhere past midnight when my friend started feeling her bowels irking her stomach. It was night and my friend was in no mood to go out to that toilet.

However, her stomach was not ready to tolerate for one more minute. So she took the lantern in her hand and a towel and slowly went out. She walked on the brick path and reached the toilet.

Once she was done, she came out of the toilet and started to get back to the house. However, then she saw it. Near the well, there was a woman sitting with a white stole over her head. Her eyes shone out of them and she was looking steadily at my friend.

At first, my friend could not move and even her voice won’t come out. Then she made a run for her life and dropped the lantern behind. She entered the house and started to scream out of fear.

Everyone gathered up and asked her what had happened. She told them about the woman clad in white near the well. Everyone took his or her knives, lanterns and other tools to check who it was.

When they reached the well site, they looked around and saw no one. My friend pointed towards the exact place where she saw the woman. Everyone looked there and saw a small tender banana tree. One of the leaves of the tree was tilting in a manner that it appeared as if someone was sitting there with something over their head. The moon light flashed right on this tree and gave a surreal effect to the object.

Everyone explained to my friend what had happened. But she was sure that she had seen a woman.
