A short story I wrote for my English class, about a teenager who hosts a party at night in his high school, and a cop trying to find out how he did it.

“Why do I always get stuck with these jobs?” I asked myself. Some stupid teenagers had decided their high school seemed like a good place to have a party and had destroyed the place in the process. Now I have the painful job of investigating how they managed to pull it off. I signed up to be a cop not a detective. I wanted to fight crime and arrest criminals not examine fingerprints and specks of dust. That’s way too tedious for me. But like it or not, here I am on a Saturday morning walking around a school parking lot. How did they get in anyways? Somehow close to twenty teenagers were able to get in without setting off the alarm or leaving any trace of them breaking in.

Now the first thing you have to figure out when your going to have a party like this, is how your going to get everyone in and out without getting caught, and this time I have this one down. The easiest way to get into the school is during school. How do you get in at night? Simple, don’t leave. A school’s a big place and do you honestly think that there’s not a single place to hide where no one will find you? I don’t think so. So now all I have to do is sit and wait until the last secretary leaves the school office.

Earlier during the school day a conveniently placed piece of gum got stuck in the door frame of the office door. Now, even after they lock the office door, it won’t close all the way and I’ll be free to walk right in. After I’m in, I can de activate the security cameras. As for the video of me walking into the office, the plain black hoodie that hides my face should take care of that. I’m not worried about being secretive, by then end of this I plan on making it clear what we did, but I do want to remain anonymous.

After a while the school principal finally showed up and let me into the school. It was a disaster, but a very clean disaster. Whoever did this definitely wanted to send a message. My first idea was to check the security cameras in the office. When I got to the office I leaned on the door as I waited for the principal to come open it. Suddenly the door swung right open and I went tumbling to the floor. As I picked myself up off the floor I began to get the feeling these kids were smarter then I had first thought. To no surprise the cameras were disconnected and the last minutes of video recorded were nothing but a black shadow walking to the office, stopping only for a second to wave to the camera.
