A small boy named Samuel and the special tree he finds.

A small boy sitting in the window watching the snow come down. Outside the children in his neighborhood were having snowball fights and building snow men. He wished he could be out there with them but, he couldn’t. He’d been very sick for along time and his mom and dad told him that he will have to stay inside. Christmas this year was going to be boring for him. No more school tell after the holidays. They still haven’t bought a tree or put up anything for decoration. Christmas was one week away.

” Samuel, please come into the kitchen.” His mom yelled.

” Coming mom,” he yelled. He carefully got up off the window seat and grabbed his cane.

Making his way into the kitchen, one careful step at a time. He has been dealing with his illness for years now. He knew that he didn’t have to much longer before he wouldn’t be here any more. Once making his way through the doorway into the kitchen, he sat down on the nearest chair. His mom was pulling out cookies from the oven. Samuel loved sugar cookies and he knew why his mom called him in there. It was time to decorate the cookies. All the different colored icing were layed on the table. She had three other trays of cookies already for him to ice up and decorate.

It took them most of the afternoon to finish the cookies. His dad came home soon after that. He walked in the kitchen and kissed Samuel’s mom and then bent down to Samuel and said, ” looks like you’ve been busy today.” Then he kissed Samuel on the fourhead and walked out of the room. What Samuel didn’t know was that he had brought home bags full of presents. In the other room his dad picked up the bags and headed for their room.

Samuel and his mom finished the cookies. His mom also had dinner ready. All she needed to do was take it out of the stove. His mom removed the plates of cookies off the table to make room for them to eat. His mom yells upstairs for his dad to come down and eat.

After dinner Samuel made his way slowly into the living room to sit and watch one of the many Christmas movies on television. His parents cleaned up the kitchen and were talking in whispers so he couldn’t hear what they were saying. On the television was the movie The Christmas Carol. It was one of his mom’s favorite movies. He wanted to yell at them but, they seemed busy talking. He sat back in the soft chair and watch the movie.
