A person who in such a short time became a part of our lives here in Thailand.

Once in a while my family met people who eventually became part of our lives. They get to become part of the family as they came to be loved by my kids as well. Just like in the Philippines I never really understood why I have this kind of trait. One that is easy to befriend with which is definitely contrast to how I look like (people usually get intimidated by the way I look and how I look).

It was not until the whole family has finally settled down on our new home after transferring from our previous home which was 2 hours away from my wife’s school and of the kids.

We were indeed blessed to find a home that is just 15 minutes away from both Sally and our kids’ Thai School. After a week or two we were visited by one of her Thai friends. And of course after a few several hours of chit-chats, “Teacher Jan” a Thai teacher asks the help of my wife about her problem. She was helping a Thai young man and unfortunately the guy has no place to stay since he will soon be evicted from the apartment that he was renting.

My wife, who’s got a soft heart in helping people as well, didn’t say “NO” to her friend. It was only a little bit later that she told me what it was all about. Reluctant naturally, I thought about it for a while. Ever since we set foot at this wonderful country, all we met was just simply amazing and marvelous people. I thought it’s about time that we do something in return. So we both have agreed to let the young fellow live on the 3rd floor of the house (the house is so huge, we just use the 2nd floor actually).

We were filled with anticipation as well as skepticism knowing that we don’t literally know anything about this stranger. All we know is that he is a young fellow, who is s self-supporting student in one of the most popular and well known University here in Thailand. The King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology North Bangkok that’s what we know all about the guy.

So, after several days of waiting and anticipating, he finally arrived on a taxi. For as young as 20 years old, he indeed has a lot of extra baggage and that is quite odd for a young man like him.

It is greatly admirable for families to open their homes to virtual strangers at this hard times. WHen this young man succeeds then its because you give him a fighting chance to do so. Great article… John Lloyd. lol

Sometimes a person comes into our lives unexpectedly. We thought that we are the one doing the person a favor but its actually the other way around. People present themselves to us to reinforce what we believe in or make us remember what we have forgotten.

On the other hand, it is not easy accepting a stranger in one’s home. It is a big leap of faith in a way to open our homes to people we do not know.

I believe this man will eventually go up the ladder of success….those who strive for a goal always gets it, or even more. I just hope he doesn’t change….a good man he is :-)

a truly inspiring one NZ… I remembered Edgardo’s story, a stranger who’s in our house right now.

Yes, it’s risky but it’s good to extend God’s grace to others… :]
