Kids book about giving things a chance before you say rather you like it or not. I wrote this for my son a long time ago.
”We need a pitcher not a belly itchier.”
Dad smiled as he saw the smile on Aaron’s face. At the end of the day a little boy name
Josh and the coach walked Aaron back to the truck. “We have practice on Monday and
Thursday and, we’ll be getting our uniforms on our next practice now you go home and
get a lot of rest. Oh by the way, how did you like hind catcher?”
Aaron’s eyes lit up, “I liked it a lot!” Aaron smiled good that your position for now on
and Jimmy will be your relief. I’ll see next week, be ready. Come on Josh if we don’t get
home your mom will send the army out for us. See you guys later he said as he walked to
his small red car.
“ So,” Dad said, “What do you think?”
“About what?”
“About baseball, do you want to play or did you want to keep playing.” Dad was
having a hard time trying not to smile. Aaron was also having a little bit of trouble
keeping his smile hidden. He kept turning his head to look out the window instead of
having to like at that, “I told you so smile he knew his dad was sporting.”
“I guess I can play for a little while. Josh said we would be getting trophies. So dad have
you ever had a trophy before?”
“No I can’t say I have. Is Josh Coach Mikes son?” Dad said as he rounded the corner
before their house.
“Yeah Aaron smiled and did you know that he hated base ball to. He said as soon
as he got out there he just could not wait till the next practice it’s a lot of fun. His dad
said you should not say you hate something before giving it a chance.”
“His dad sounds like a smart cookie.” Aaron’s dad pulled in to the driveway. His mom
was stand in the doorway waiting for them.
“How was practice?” Mom asked
“ It was great! The coach said I could be a hind catcher. I got to hit the ball and throw
the ball it was so much fun!” Aaron could not keep his excitement in any more he jumped
around as he explains his time at the baseball field.
“It sounds like you had fun. So you will be going back?” Mom smiled at Aaron.
“Yes, I can’t wait! I have to practice and get some more gear or will the coach give
me that. Mom, I even get a uniform and a trophy!” Aaron ran into the house as his mom
yelled out to him, “Wash your hands dinners done.”
Mom and dad hugged and began to walk in to the house. Aaron yelled out of the
window, “What’s for dinner?”
“We are having fish and chips!” Mom yelled back. There was silence for a bit as
mom ands dad walked up to the door of the house. Mom and dad walked in to see Aaron
looking at the plates that decorated the dinning table. Aaron looked up at his parents and
said, “I hate fish and chips!”
