A True story that happened when I was a young girl.

A distant memory – years ago….

It was in Lagos, Africa. I had just settled into school after me, my brother and parents arrival from UK. Dad had just completed his Cambridge Scholarship.

I must have been about 9 years old and there were stories of kids being abducted. Sometimes Dad’s driver brought us home, but on this occasion we walked home and spotted a tall dark man walking behind us. We looked at each other and said he must be one of the abductors, so we ran for it.

As we did, guess who fell down with one of her shoes coming off. Yes, it was me. My friends looked back in horror and ran back to me, while the man was getting closer to us. We looked at him – I was still on the ground holding my breath and my eyes were getting wider. My friends must have panicked too because they stood still as he approached. We all froze.

He  came close picked up my shoe and gave it to me. I was speechless. I can’t remember if he smiled or said anything. He then walked away and we all looked at him, thinking he was a nice man after all.

Sadly, this is not the case for many children all over the world. I pray for their safe return.

Thanks for sharing that story LadyElena. I’m glad it turned out well for you and your friends. Child abduction is a horrible thing.

first of all, thanks for sharing this memory. as rightfully mentioned, these kind of incidents are happening alot and there needs to be more laws to ensure that strangers should not openly approach children in this manner as it can intimate, shock or harm them. i’m really happy that you and your friends managed to return home safely. a great eye-opening share. thanks again, Elena, for sharing.

LadyE…what a story you had me spellbound and breathless as I read your suspenseful account and I was finally able to breath again when I reached the successful and safe ending of your yarn…your unique story-telling garnered my I like it vote…but I also likeit for the primary intent of your article…ending the abduction of children and young people arond the world…many of whom unfortunately become objects in the growing international sex trade…pretty disgusting what ruthless people are pepared to do with other peoples’ children all in the name of greed…superb job with this one…thanks and take care

There are a lot of kids abducted here. The kidnapper stitched their mouth so that they can’t scream. But the people on the bus noticed some whimpering that’s why they caught him. They are sold as slaves in the farm.

I few very tense moments there. It is lamentable that child marketing takes place in this world and worse.

Very interesting Elena. I have no tolerance for crime against children and find myself quick to judgment.

    Good anecdote.
