He had a strange approach coming to a particular scene then doing a preliminary and of course the curious would stop by and see him paint a scene but the objects he painted were often absent. A young boy went and asked why he was painting a car. He answered that’s what he saw and the young man said there wasn’t anything. To that the artist answered that was what he saw in the distance, just coming out of the water. The boy never knew that cars could be pulled from the ocean depths. Sometimes the subjects would disappear from the painting he would think but then he wasn’t concentrating on what he actually wanted; he would let his hand take the best of him. He recalled the scream and others that made the scream look tame.

His Mom had told him not to waste his time if the girl only wanted notoriety. None of that, he said. She just didn’t have a fair chance with the model, besides she offered him a door to acting agencies and a chance to meet other shapely ladies.
