We have no idea what life has in store for us. One minute you are deciding on something and next minute your plan is foiled because destiny has other things intended for you.
It was a mere coincidence that three months later, Prachi called Harshita to borrow a book and got the feeling that Harshita was hassled over something. At first, she didn’t want to talk about it, but on Prachi’s constant insistence, Harshita gave in and said that Amit had called that morning to explain the reason for not showing up at the Registrar’s Office. And what was the excuse he gave, asked Prachi. You won’t believe, said Harshita ‘Amit had cancer and he had gone to a faith healer in Goa to get treated and is ok now’. Harshita had bought his story, but somehow Prachi couldn’t believe that there was any truth in what he said ‘this man cannot be trusted’. How can someone be healed of cancer in two weeks by a faith healer? Harshita was quite! She had made one mistake before and by believing what he said this morning, she probably would be making another mistake. Very bluntly Prachi told Harshita to tell her parents about it and seek their advice. Harshita agreed to this and finally, took her parents advice and decided not to make the same mistake twice. She called Amit and called off their relationship.
It’s been three years since this heartbreaking incident in Harshita’s life, but she is glad she made the right decision. Her parents found a good alliance for her and got her married to a middle class educated boy who is very considerate and loving. He even allowed Harshita to retain her three years old job. They have a beautiful and adorable looking baby girl now, who is going to be two years old soon. Harshita’s advice to all her friends was to trust their parents and seek their advice and include them in all major decisions in life. No parent would mean their children any wrong.
