As the red curtains slowly rose upwards, the audience held their breaths in anticipation.
Dominic “The Gifted” Prance, a young and upcoming magician was performing one of his live shows at a club in East London in front of a small audience and he was determined to win them over. A stage had been set up especially for him. As the red curtains slowly rose upwards, the audience held their breaths in anticipation. There was nobody there. Suddenly, there was a very loud bang and a thick blanket of green mist began to engulf the entire stage, followed by sparks and crackles. Slowly but surely, a tall slim man emerged. In appearance he was smartly dressed in a black Victorian suit, red and black laced cloak, top hat and polished black boots. His hair were dyed Prussian blue with yellow ochre side burns and tied back tightly and ended in a long pirate cut knot. He also carried an Egyptian magic wand in his right hand; rumoured to be the only existing one of its kind. He looked around at his spectators and then took a swift bow. This was followed by loud noises from the audience.
“Well, when are you going to show us your bunny rabbit then?” Shouted an elderly lady who burst out coughing and laughing, poking her snoring husband’s left side. On another side of the club, a bear of a bearded man said in a husky voice,
“Oi!, listen up people, I bet he’s now going to pull out a handkerchief or a deck of cards. Just you all watch and see. It’s all the same. Rubbish. Boo! Bring on the pole dancers!”
Before long, the entire place was in a shambles as they all joined in and called out, raising their fists in protest and stamping their feet on the floor.
“Boo, go back home! Boo, go back home! Boo, go back home!” Before long, the club owner, Mr Collins approached Dominic.
“See, I told you, didn’t I. They’re just not your type. They’re used to seeing the likes of can can dancers or pole strippers and what have you.” Dominic Prance turned to him and raised both his arms in the air. Suddenly, he blew softly at Mr Collins. But what he blew was not just air; it was red glitter and before he could react, Mr Collins began to rise in the air. Higher and higher he rose, until his head touched the roof of the club in front of the surprised audience.
