Brent Let off with Lack of Evidence
By: Ian Carlson______________
On Thursday, Miss Emily Brent’s trial was ended by Judge Gordon Newman, after four long days in the court room. Judge Newman stated that there was a lack of evidence. “There was no one else in the house at the time,” said Judge Newman.
Miss Brent refused to let Beatrice Taylor into her house, after she was either thrown in or she jumped into the river. The defense of Miss Brent was handled by lawyer Jeff Smith. Jeff Smith has defended lots of murderers, rapists, serial killers, and terrorists.
Mr. Smith stated, “Beatrice Taylor had committed a sin and could not live with the sin. So she killed herself by jumping into the river. After Beatrice Taylor had jumped into the river she ran to Miss Brent’s house and died before Miss Brent could answer the door.
There also was a close friend of Beatrice Taylor who let us interview them. She said, “My friend Beatrice would never commit suicide. I don’t remember Beatrice ever telling me she committed a sin.”
After the Judge announced that there was a lack of evidence we took a poll and 48% agreed with the judge and 52% disagreed with the judge. Everyone watching the trial voted.
The authorities are going to continue to search for evidence. If you know of any please contact them.
