About divine protection as told to me by three women, all of whom I have known for years.

Donnalee

I don’t know Donnalee as well as the other two women, but I know her family quite well. Her younger brother and sister were students of mine way back when I was teaching. Her mom, Barbara, is still a friend of mine.

Donnalee’s incredible experience took place in 1992 when she was vacationing in Banff with her family.  She had to drive back to her new home in Vancouver driving a small Acadian car, but for some reason was reluctant to tell her family that she was short on cash and only had about ½ tank of gas and some change to buy a bit of food.

But moms can sense these things, so Barb started praying for Donnalee as soon as she left. Barb prayed specifically that God would send an angel for each car tire and one on the hood to protect her daughter as she drove.

God dramatically answered Barb’s prayer by sending exactly what she prayed for: five angels that Donnalee could actually see! There were four angels around her car and one on the hood! On the whole trip to Vancouver, the four side angels entertained her by cavorting around her car, and by telling her the most hilarious jokes she had ever heard. The angel up front, however, was all business as he navigated. Without stopping once for gas, Donnalee remembered driving and driving then  suddenly awoke as the sun was rising, and realized with a start that she was in her own driveway, and had been sleeping with her head forward on the steering wheel. She must have been sleeping this position for some time as she had the imprint of the steering wheel deeply imbedded on her forehead…She telephoned her Mom to tell her she had safely arrived in Vancouver and had an unbelievably strange story to tell her about her trip home, that’s when her Mom related to her the prayer she had prayed the evening she left Banff. It was exactly as it had happened!

When she tells this amazing story, Donnalee’s biggest regret is that she can’t remember any of the jokes that the angels told her.

Angels All Around Us

Do you believe in guardian angels? I do. I firmly believe that God has assigned a whole squadron to guard my family! I don’t know how else to explain the many times that we have walked away from serious accidents with amazingly minor injuries. There was one incident where I was driving alone on a gravel road after a heavy snowfall. I hit a hard drift that lay across the road, and it felt like my car was gently lifted over the drift and set down just as gently on all four tires on the other side.

Was it really an angel who gently picked up my car, or was I just lucky? Did an angel disguised as curly haired blond really protect Val and her friends from a African border crossing, or was it just coincidence that an American girl was standing beside a lonely road through African bush country? Was Cyndi’s apartment really guarded by unseen angels? Did Donnalee just fall asleep at the wheel and dream about her angelic roadtrip? If so, how did she make it to Vancouver without refueling her car?

Have you met any angels? Are you certain? Hebrews 13:2 says: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”

All Scripture references are quoted from the New International Version

    Karen,

I enjoyed reading your piece. I know that angels do exist, however I have not personally seen one. A little girl in my family, was out shopping with her mother and when their shopping was finished, she asked her mother, “mommy why is that lady sitting on our car?” Her mother saw no one. “There is no one on the car honey.” mom said. “No,she is sitting right here beside me.\” the little girl told her mother. Her mother cried, because she knew her daughter was visited by an angel. Your story also gives me goose bumps. Thanks for sharing.

What beautiful stories. I have seen my deceased daughters guardian angel. when my daughter was dying of cancer I snapped as many pictures as I could before she passed on. There was only my daughter and I in her hospital room and in several of the pictures is a woman in a light blue dress with a dark blue knit or crocheted shawl. The woman had her head bowed in prayer and was holding a cross in one hand. She stood at the side of my daughters bed and had the other hand reaching out to my daughter. I knew immediately that this is my daughters guardian angel. Thank you for sharing your awesome article. I collect angels in memory of my daughter and I read every angel story with great relish. Blessings!
