A Christian girl’s story about how the love she has isn’t all she thought it was.

“Father thank you for the food we’re about to receive and for the nourishment of our bodies. In Jesus name I pray,” Angela said. “Amen.” everyone joined in. “Eat Eat! Shicken trips! Shicken trips! Pweas!” Marcus screamed. “Here you go, mommy’s precious.” Monica said while piling chicken strips and French fries onto his plate. “Ma’ he ain’t gone eat all dat,” Tangela complained. “He just gone throw it at people!” she continued while putting emphasis on the ‘throw’ and bucking at her little brother. “Well maybe if you got along with him he wouldn’t throw food at you. Ever thought of that?” Monica explained. Tangela just rolled her eyes. “So Angela, how was choir practice?” Monica asked. “It was okay I guess. They want me to sing lead for the Christmas performance Sunday because Ashley has to go out of town.” she said. “And?…” her mother asked eagerly.

“And I don’t want to do it.” Angela said while stuffing her face with French fries. “Why not?” her twin sister Tangela joined in. “Because I’m nervous, and I want to go out with Dontae after service; but if I sing lead I have to stay for both services.” she said. “So you really like this Dontae dude huh?” her mom asked. She just giggled, but that was enough. “Dontae, Dontae, Dontae, oh what I would do to Dontae.” Tangela thought to herself. “All done!” Marcus yelled, interrupting Tangela’s daydream. With an empty plate and food everywhere except his mouth, it was past time for him to get a bath. Angela got up and took it upon herself to get him ready for bed. The dishes were washed and everyone went to sleep.

“Hey baby” said a deep voice that walked up behind Tangela as she read a text message in the hallway. She turned around smiling. “Hey boo, I missed you”, she said sweetly. “I missed you too.” They started making out in the hallway while everyone else was in class. “Ahem!” said a voice that startled them, clearing their throat. Both looked up to see Chris, Angela’s best friend standing there shaking his head. “Dontae I’m disappointed in you. I thought you were a good one, I mean I expected this from Tangela but I thought you were real. I guess you been playing Angela just like the rest were.” Shamed, Tangela just stood there in silence. Dontae made an attempt to explain but Chris just walked away.
