I’m sure we have all come across instances that may have left us embarrassed because of things we may have said or done before thinking twice (even once, sometimes).
Please read one such short story.

A man is travelling in a rickshaw (auto) on the busy streets of India. At a traffic signal, a handicapped man comes begging for alms. Some commuters give away change. The passenger in the rickshaw too places a coin in the beggar’s hand.

On going further, the passenger tells yells at the auto driver, “You make a few hundreds a day. Why didn’t you give a rupee to the poor handicapped man?”

The driver does not respond and continues to drive.

On reaching the destination, the passenger gives a big note to which the driver says, “Wouldn’t you be having change?”

The passenger answers, “Go to that shop and check if you can get change there?”

The auto driver, with a little strain and meekness, walked out the rickshaw supporting his maimed leg on a crutch.

    True story this is!

Once I needed change for Rs. 100 and did not pay the actual cost of Rs. 40, despite having change (which is the exact cost for my bus journey). When I saw the guy pick the stick, I stopped him by holding his shoulder and paid him the change. I explained myself and apologized. You should see the brightness in his face. :)

Karma, or payback, as some may call it is what we make it. This fellow needs to fear payday, with his attitude..
    Good Writing!

people become judgemental not realizing what must be going on in another persons life.

People take things for granted and do not care for the welfare of others. The passenger in question should have apologised to the rickshaw driver.

    Nice post, Pooja.
