This is about a colony in the future on Mars. They are under attack by a powerful Martian Lord. Will they make it through? Or will they perish?

‘All men to battle stations!’ yelled Lieutenant Krakatoa. The siren was creating a huge sound. Bob, Tom and I rushed to our anti-aircraft guns. “Fire at will!” he shouted. The jets circled around us, firing and also trying to crash into us. “Duck!” I cried to Tom. A laser beam passed within centimetres of his head. After a long three hours, the jets finally retreated and we went to have a coffee break. “Aaron, what do you want?” Tom asked me. “Coffee with sugar on top”, I replied. The three of us sat down at a table near the café. “What a three hours!” snorted Bob who always wanted to sleep in. “Hey, it”s your fault you signed into the army’, I stated. “I suppose”, Bob replied in a grumpy voice. “I”m going back to sleep. I’ll catch you two later.’

I woke up early the next day and turned on the TV when Krakatoa bursted in and said “Rise and shine, early gathering at the main hall in five minutes, ok?” “Yes Sir!” replied the three of us. At the gathering, the General had an important announcement. “We will be attacking the Martian Lord”s home city in a few days time’, he spoke over the microphone. My mouth dropped down. “Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!! I won”t get to sleep!’ yelled Bob over the General. “Well that”s too bad for you then’, he replied.

In a few days, we had produced many nukes and powerful beam weapons for our soldiers. It was dark and I was just getting into bed when four huge, explosive nukes landed on the colony. Ion cannon beams were also seen in the night sky. The next day the same thing happened and again and again. We had all our equipment and were ready to assault the enemy base.

All energy reserves were used on ion cannons and all explosives were used into making nukes. Some people stayed behind, to fire the nukes and cannons. We had been in the transporter for more than a day and were getting close to the base. Our General in the main combat aircraft ordered the nukes and cannons to be fired. This is when we found out something unbelievable. Some people who were left behind were actually spies from the Martians. They had thrown all the people who weren’t spies into cold storage. Instead they targeted the cannons at us. We were doomed. We had to get to the main city quickly so that they wouldn’t fire the cannons at us in case they hit the city. Too late! A cannon beam whizzed by. Another came and another. Eventually, we had to take shelter behind some huge boulders and mountains. When the General thought all the energy was used up, we turned our aircrafts to full power and headed for the home city. Amazingly, we arrived in less than fifthteen minutes and we did not like our sight at all. We were rained by constant firing and weren’t able to land. All the enemy military forces were up against us. Finally a miracle came. Bob slipped off the edge of our transporter. All his smoke bombs fell to the ground. Luckily he was lifted back onto the plane. The bombs hit the ground and with a bang and smoke was everywhere. They couldn’t see properly as they hadn’t expected us to have smoke bombs. The transporters landed and we all put on our goggles which allowed us to see through anything.
