This is the first story in a series of stories I’m hoping to write with Allison Jae. Check out Broken Candle for the start of this world.

His powers were still useful out here. Though he no longer changed form unless he was out of the sight of the public he was still able to use the beasts strength. As he brought the maul down on the wood he felt the enjoyment of splitting the rounds of would. It was one of the few things that he still had to enjoy.

He could easily get rid of his anger at the news and the rest of the word for the way they treated his people. So what if they were all part alien. Normal’s were too. Every fucking human being on the planet was part alien. Sadian’s where just from a different stock then the rest of the humans.

Blackmore Rets was happy to be out of the game but sometimes he wanted to go help those who were faced with the repercussions of being genetically manipulated buy a bunch of overzealous assholes that couldn’t leave nature well enough alone. He hated the state of the world. First it was color now it was genetics.

Yes he had once worked hunting and killing some of his own kind but they were dangerous to everyone not just humans. Yes he had gathered some of the worst to join Darkhold’s army of Sadian agents. He had done some very bad things during his time with them but he had also done some good and helped Sadian’s find their way to safe places.

He heard the helicopter before it got all that close. Sounded like a light air ship stile chopper. The type used by the corporation. He felt a rush of anger at the fact they would come out here to get him when they had agreed that they would never come for him again.

Blackmore just continued to chop wood. He knew that if he ran they would hunt him and he didn’t need that. He needed to be free and if that meant they would reactivate him as an agent. If that was what they planned then it had to be very bad.

It had been a year since he had left the employ of the corporation. In that time he had done well with his neighbors and others that had ventured out to his land. None of them knew who or what he was so they weren’t coming to reprimand him. He began to wonder what it was.
