The start of a short horror story.

It was a sunny July day as Kara, Seth, Aimee and Jacob arrived at the two story, rustic cabin with a covered patio in front of it, also a  generator with a gate around it in the back of the cabin and what looked to be a handmade wooden shack off to the side of the place, across from everything is beautiful Bane’s lake, past that are miraculous snow tipped mountains in the distance.

“What a great place,” said Aimee excitedly.

“Lets see if we can park in there,” said Seth, pointing to the old shack.

They drove to the front of it, Jacob got out and pulled open the big sliding door on the front of it, there was nothing inside it except for a few work tables and box’s in the corner.

“We can fit it in here,” said Jacob.

“Alright, lets get the stuff out first,” said Seth eagerly.

They all got out, grabbed something from the truck and headed for the house.

The steps leading to the front door were creaky and weathered, on the porch was one of those old hanging bench’s and a few chairs.

“Kara bent down,” lifted the mat in front of the door “right where he told me it would be,” said Kara happily, as she picked up the key.

She placed it in the doorknob, twisted it and opened the door.

Inside there was a stairway going to the second floor with a hallway next to it leading to the bathroom and back door, a spacious main room to the right as you come in, with some retro couch’s and a dusty coffee table, opposite the main room is a kitchen with the basics, a stove, sink, dining table, and  fridge.

“Smells funny in here,” said Aimee smugly.

“Well no ones been here in a while,” said Kara quickly.

“Rooms must be upstairs,” said Seth exhaustedly, lets finish unloading the truck so we can make dinner and then get some rest.
