This is a story of a young boy that loses his parents and gandparents at a young age, and moves to an orphange, and with hard work and determination, he fights hard and becomes a Pro Basketball player.
Nuchie Greene is 6 years old; he’s currently lives with his grandparents; J.J Himon Greene, and Ester Greene. Nuchie is 5”5 and 100 pounds, very stunning height and weight for his age, even the doctors agree, he went thru his growth spurt alright, but Mrs. Ester Greene says that he sure didn’t get past puberty yet. Nuchie always gets pushed around and teased by people in school, whether it’s because of his height or because of the fact that he lives with his grandparents.
Whenever Nuchie hears anything displeasing, he always tries to ignore it, but when he goes back and thinks, before he started living with his grandparents he lived with his parents James, and Marry Greene, one day James and Marry decided to take a walk around the neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, knowing their son Nuchie was asleep, they took a walk to release some of their stress, and tension, as they approached the dark alley outside of their apartment, a gang was parked outside and murdered James and Marry that night. Ever Since that incident Nuchie was a different child, not so much a sad and gloomy child but, perhaps because he’s very young to understand the meaning of losing his loved ones, but he shows his sorrow outside of public, the only thing Nuchie uses to remember his parents by is his, fathers lucky necklace that he took off his father’s neck the day of his death. As any other young 6 year old child, he has his cravings, such as cookies, and milk, which always makes him happy and good to be around. Nuchie goes to church with his Grandparent’s very often, in fact every single Sunday, and he even goes to church after school everyday to pray for his parents. Nuchie very frequently cries to his Grandma, and complains a lot, and In Mrs. Esther Greene’s heart, she knows that the kid needs to learn how to not be a dependant person, because, she feels that her and her husband will pass away someday and won’t be there for Nuchie, and she tries to explain Nuchie time and time again to believe in himself.
As Nuchie grows older he meets his best friend Lamar read. Lamar and Nuchie were the closest of friends, and they looked out for one another and respected each other. Lamar and Nuchie had many things in common. They both live with their grandparents, and both their parents died. 9 years later Nuchie turns 15 and it’s his birthday, Nuchie’s Grandparents, along with his best friend Lamar host him a surprise birthday party. As Nuchie’s grandparents are on their way back after picking up Lamar, they get rammed by a huge gasoline truck and get smashed out of the road and their car bursts in flames. Nuchie gets a phone call by the police and get informed of the tragedy of his lifetime. From that point on Nuchie’s life completely turns around, because he has lost every single one of his loved ones, and has no place to go. Two days later, Nuchie gets sent to an orphanage. Once Nuchie came to the orphanage he didn’t say a single word, he didn’t talk to anyone at all, and he became completely lonely, Nuchie even stopped believing in god, because of everything that happened in his life, he also blamed god for the death of all his loved ones. Nuchie had so many thoughts of suicide, once he was very close to committing suicide, but the owner of the orphanage stopped him from doing it, and to stroll Nuchie out of committing suicide the owner convinced Nuchie into playing Basketball, and relieving his stress, and sorrow. Nuchie got better and better at basketball and became one with the game; basketball became his bread and butter. As years passed Nuchie became very good, good enough that scouts took him, and gave him a full paid scholarship to Marquette university. Nuchie began playing Basketball with only his heart, will, and determination to succeed. At the end of his second year at Marquette University, NBA (National Basketball Association) scouts were watching Nuchie thoroughly. Nuchie then had flashbacks of his father James Greene talking about playing for the New York Knicks for 2 years then getting injured and later removed overtime. Nuchie knew what he had to do to fulfill his destiny, and get picked by the New York Knicks and be the best he can be. That summer Nuchie Greene was in the NBA Draft and ranked #1 overall college player. He then got drafted to New York Knicks as first pick, and joined the NBA. Nuchie started to set goals throughout his new job, as a professional Basketball player. Nuchie became one the all time greats of Basketball, and made the hall of fame, which was always his father’s one and only dream. Nuchie became the shortest Basketball player of all time as 5”5, the height as when he was 6 years old. Nuchie opened many organizations and charities focusing on orphans, and getting them a better life. After all Nuchie has been through, he passes on the torch to his kids and tell them everything he’s been through, and he regains his belief in god and visits the Singarose Baptist church to remember all his loved one’s.
