What would you do to be popular?
Kelsey Martin’s long hair swept across her face, she pushed it away with her hand but only to feel it fall back in to place. She needed a hair cut but that wasn’t what was on her mind at the time. He was, Michael Banks, the hottest guy at Brywood’s Academy for Boys. There he was just walking down the street with his buddies. His smile, his hair, everything was perfect about him. Plus now he was single because he finally broke up with Jessica Harris. Jessica was the prettiest and the most popular girl at Wenchester’s School for Girls. Yet she had a horrible attitude so her only true friends were, Mandie Lucas and Becca Knight, who were only her friends for the popularity and the fact they wanted to be her. So actually she had no friends that were true to her.
“Hello” Alexis, Kelsey’s best friend, said “Come back to Earth”. Then Alexis and Melissa started laughing at the little joke. “What” Kelsy asked all innocent and joined in on the laughing. They all knew Kelsey was just daydreaming about Michael. Almost every girl wanted him but they never had a chance because nobody could out do Jessica in the pretty department. So the girls continued their breakfast and talked about all the boys they liked.
Alexis and Melissa knew Kelsey was madly in love with Michael. Alexis thought he was cute but not her type of boy. She was more in to the quiet boys who were actually super sweet if you got them to talk. She knew who her perfect match was and that was Jake Curtis. He wasn’t the hottest boy but he was cute and sweet and very shy. Every time she saw him butterflies entered her stomach and she got light headed. Melissa on the other hand had a boyfriend, Johnny Valitino, they had been dating for awhile now. Melissa met Johnny through her brother Stephen. Johnny and Stephen use to hang out when Stephen was in middle school then as he got in high school he quit talking to Johnny because he was in middle school and it wasn’t cool to be with them unless they were family.
The girls talked and talked until their cups of hot coco was gone. Kelsey loved this place, Loca Hot Coco, nobody but her knew why and that’s the way she was keeping it. Truth was that when Kelsey was a little girl her mother use to bring her there every Friday for Hot Coco no matter how cold it was no matter how hot it was they are always came. They use to sit in the corner stools and talk about everything. When Kelsey was younger her mom would tell her stories about how her and Kelsey’s dad had first met. When she was older she asked Kelsey how she was doing and what was happening in her life. It was fun talking to her mother and not worrying about saying the wrong thing or making her made because that just wasn’t Michelle Martin’s way. She never got angry with her daughter. But that was when she was alive, now Kesley could only came to hang with her friends and every Friday she would come by and sit in the corner by herself just thinking about her mom. Alexia and Melissa knew Kelsey’s mom had died, they just didn’t know about Loco’s place. Kelsey had showed them it not too long ago. Before the girls just thought it was some beat down place that was a restaurant that a few poor people went to, that was until Kelsey took them there and they relized how good the food and coffee (in their case lattes) were.
