We had pushed hard for a month and were soon in view of the islands of the Bahamas. “Lax the wind Wendy.” I said as we came closer to the area that we knew there could be reefs. “Drop some canvas.”

“Half sails.” Sam yelled to the crew who went to work lowering the sails. “Ready the cannon.”

I looked back at the dot far off in the distance. “Belay that order. We’ll make port before they can catch us.”

“Belay that order.” Sam called. “Do you think it wise not to get ready for battle Captain?”

“We donna have to worry about attack in these waters.” I smiled. “It’s not likely that they will come after us in our own waters right now with the fleet here and they might well head south to their own islands to re supply. We may have only been out a month but that changes little.”

Laela moved up close to me. “Were you expecting that ship to be there still since we were moving so fast?”

“No.” I said quietly. “We should have been out of sight days ago but I have a guess how he kept up. Bloody fool thinks he can beat us by using a Sadian crew.”

“Sadian?” She frowned. “I thought that Sadian crews were rare because of so few Sadian’s?”

“They are rare but not because we are.” I shook my head. “Sadian’s are everywhere, we just do a good job of hiding what we are. If we don’t we get burned for witchcraft. I know that most governments keep a list to protect us but will use us when they think they need to. The French must have such a list and Tiggal must have used it.”
