A cute short story about two beetles.
Once, long ago, in a time before dinosaurs, there lived two quite peculiar orange beetles. One was a large strong, very handsome beetle. The other was a rather small and shy, but very curious beetle. Each had been very independent from a young age and they both grew to be loners. On a rather hot evening, both looking for shade, they found each other under a small, but useful mushroom. The large beetle, stood as if he were going to attack and the small beetle, was stunned. She couldn’t believe the size of him. The large beetle, although very independent and rough, saw that he scared his acquaintance and slowly back off from his attack stance. He looked up at the small beetle; His eyes were pleading, screaming for forgiveness. The small beetle, still slightly shaking nodded her head, forgiving him. Then she turned around and began to find her way to another place to rest. Feeling as if he ran her away from the very useful mushroom, he chased after her.
“Ahem. Sorry to bother you. I didn’t mean to frighten you back there. You are more than welcome to rest over there. It’s quite hot out here. There’s no need for you to waste more time and energy.”
There was silence for a moment. “I… I don’t need your help. Thank you for your patronage though” she said. Then she ran away.
He stared in her direction until he could no longer see her, and he walked back to the mushroom. He got as comfortable as he could and he fell asleep. When he woke up next to him was a pile of leaves. Written on the ground next to him it said ‘Hopefully our paths will cross again, but for now just enjoy your breakfast
