Massively Multiplayer Online Games or MMOGs, are quite popular these days. That’s because people find it incredibly fun to immerse one’s self in a world of fantastic wonders and high adventure.

In a free RPG adventure type of MMO game, you might be the prince who would brave the most dangerous perils and horrifying places to slay the magic beasts and lay claim to untold wealth.  Or you might be the magician who will become the greatest sorcerer across the known land. Or maybe the dark lord who will rule the many continents.

With MMORPGs, you can be anyone and anything, you want to be. There are no limits except your imagination.

The only problem is that not all MMO games are free to play. Most of the time, you’d have to pay for the MMORPG itself, if not the monthly membership fee. Who wants to pay good money for something people can play free?

That’s why so many devout players have searched far and wide for the best free to play MMORPGs that might be worth the effort to download. In the past most of the free to play MMO games were not very good but this is no longer true. These days the quite a few the top game developers have created high quality freemium MMORPGs. Also many previously pay to play games have changed their business model to free to get more new players.

You might be wondering why these MMOGs free. What’s the catch? That’s because they operate using a different business model. This is the “freemium” model in which almost all the content is given to players for free except for a few premium or paid content.

In other words, when a gamer starts playing, all skills and content are free similar to a free trial except without the time limits. Then as the player levels up there will be some paid items or expansion packs offered for more advanced players. These items or expansion packs are always optional and are just there to offer additional content. In fact, many of these items are purely vanity items that give no special bonuses, they are sold just to make your character look good.

For example, all of the free players must limit themselves to using the generic-looking steel long sword but there might be a awesome-looking flaming sword for those willing to pay for it. The boring-looking steel mace has precisely the same equiment stats as the awesome-looking ice sword – people are paying for only for their character to look cool.

Sound good? Free to play MMORPGs are perfect for casual players who only play irregularly because they don’t want to pay for a game they won’t even play everyday. It’s also great for cash-strapped gamers who can’t pay for a lot of games online.
Those are the top  reasons why gamers are flocking to these games.
