A Church of England bishop made a boo-boo.

He has apologized today for suggesting that the marriage of Prince William and his

fiancee Kate Middleton would only last seven years and that the couple were “shallow celebrities”.

As much as he wants to salvage his reputation, I think his apology has come too late and of little effect . Damage is done. Period.

Pete Broadbent, the Bishop of Willesden in northwest London, has written in Facebook that he couldn’t care less about the Royals and that there are “more broken marriages and philanderers among these people than not”.He called them shallow celebrities and gave their marriage only seven years of survival.

William and Middleton, both 28, will marry in April 2011. They are now the toast of the city of London and the excitement is electric as the nation, recovering from a deep recession,is back to the celebrative salad days of Camelot.

So, will William succeed as the new monarch or his father Charles?

What do you think?

It was unwise of him to say this so publically, but there are many people who agree with him. Should he be lambasted just because he gave a personal opinion and that opinion goes against the current mood of the country? I think not.

Good point, or two here. Strange that it is not in the Societybe category or site, whatever.
