BIZZIE LIZZIE

Bizzie Lizzie is a black and gold bumblebee who lives in a hive at the back of Grandma’s garden.   As it was a beautiful warm and sunny morning, Lizzie decided to go off into the world and explore.  Off she flew in a cloud of happiness.  Over the green tree tops, past rows of houses, through villages and over church steeples.

After a while, she spotted a family having a picnic.

“Oh Yummy, look at all that jam on those sandwiches.  I must go down there right away and land in that.”   Buzzed Lizzie.  She zoomed down and skidded onto a huge dollop of jam that was oozing from the side of a sandwich.  It covered her hairy bumblebee legs.

“Oh what great fun.”  Shrieked Lizzie.

“Kill that bee!”  Shouted a girl with a yellow pony tail.

“No, Katie, she will sting you if you touch her.”

“Exactly right I will.”  Frowned Lizzie.

A bald headed man began swiping at Lizzie with a rolled up newspaper.

“Time to depart.”  Lizzie reluctantly lifted her legs from the jam and buzzed up high into the blue sky.  She waved her wings at the greenfly and ladybirds that were up enjoying the sunshine.  There were lots of friends enjoying the fresh air today.

All at once Bizzie Lizzie saw a great flash of colour.  It was a nursery where they grow lots of flowers.

“Oh my, I really must go and land on all those flowers,” buzzed Lizzie with delight.  Down she swooped.  She saw red tulips, blue and pink hyacinths and rows of yellow daffodils.  Lizzie was in ecstasy as she dodged in and out of the flowers gathering honey for the hive as she went.  Just then a lady in a green overall wearing yellow gloves and carrying a huge watering can, came along spraying the flowers.

“Oops, nearly got caught there then.” breathed Lizzie.  Off she flew once more, loaded up with pollen for making lots of honey and headed back to the hive.

She was looking forward to this evening, when she would tell of her adventures of the day.  As she flew down towards the hive, the rest of her gang were all coming home.  All with a story to tell of their day.
