Nature story.

In a house in the suburb of Rockingham in a big city called Perth there lived a cat named Misty and a dog named Scruffy. Misty was sitting on the windowsill licking herself in the morning sun and Scruffy was chasing rabbits in his sleep. Kitty has finished her cleaning for the day and has a big stretch and wanders over to Scruffy and very carefully taps him on the shoulder. He wakes with a stretch and a growl looks at Kitty licks his mouth shows his big teeth and says, “this better be good because I could eat you now Misty” being very brave Misty gives her tail a flick and says, “why yes” I’m bored lets go on a adventure. Scruffy replies but were shall we go. Just then the neighbour’s cat jumps onto the windowsill who had been listening from the garden bed below and said, “how about a trip into the city to see the black swans?” “‘Wow that sounds great, woof, woof meow, meow black swans here we come.” “But how shall we get there?” said Misty, the neighbours cat replied. “Well one night when I was sitting on my owners lap, I heard about these fast trains that now leave from the new station in Rockingham.” said the neighbour cat. “So how do we get to the station?” said Scruffy. “Well we catch the bus” said Misty. So that was there plan. So Misty put some money in her purse that was on her collar and Scruffy put some treats to eat for both of them in

his satchel that was kept around his neck. So off they went. First they had a short walk from the house to the bus stop they only had to wait a little while and the bus arrived the bus driver opened the door for them they paid there fare and found there seats. After a while they reached the train station this was a little busier and Misty had to be careful that people didn’t step on her tail, they went and paid there fare and waited for the train after five minutes the train arrived finding a seat the settled. This trip took a long time, but what they saw along the way was exciting all the traffic, houses and the bush and as they approached the city they saw the very big buildings and the sparkling water with boats on it. Finally the conductor said, “next stop Perth” the train pulled into the station and they both got off. With the directions that they got from the information booth they made there way to the black swans, but they were so overwhelmed by the scenery that they took the wrong turn and found themselves down a dark alley. Misty became very scared Scruffy done his best to comfort her then they heard some clanging coming from the garbage can staying very calm Scruffy barked “who’s there” and out came a smelly alley cat and says to Scruffy its Ok dude its only me a lonely alley cat. After introductions were made alley cat asked them what they were doing in his alley Misty spoke up and said, “we are on our way to see the black swans” Oh said alley cat I’m friends with the black swans I can take you to meet them. So off they went with there new friend to find the swans. Along the way Misty’s tummy was making a growling noise so in a small park under a tree they had some lunch and a little rest a while later they were back on there paws again and walking over this hill on the other side was this big lake and on the lake were these very beautiful black birds Misty and Scruffy were jumping, leaping, meowing and barking they had made it to the black swans in the city of Perth. In there excitement they didn’t hear alley cat telling them to be quite or they would frighten them away some of the black swans started to fly and Misty and Scruffy quietened down leaving a few on the lake. So Misty and Scruffy sat quietly for hours watching the swans swim on the water. Sensing that it was time to go alley cat walked them back to the train station they said goodbye to there new friend gave him there address and told him to come visit when he could. Back on the train they found there seats for the trip home once again taking in the scenery getting off the train Misty kept her tail out of the way of other people’s feet on the bus for the short trip home. By the time they had walked home Misty and Scruffy were very tired they had made it to there front garden and waiting for them was the neighbours cat telling the exciting story to the neighbours cat after the cat said, “could I please come on you next adventure” both Misty and Scruffy said at the same time it will be awhile before our next one. Just then the owner was calling them in for there tea they ate and fell asleep all of the night and part of the day they dreamt of there wonderful time in the big city of Perth
and meeting a new friend but most of all the black swans
that lived on the big lake.
