A short story about a blanket.

Once upon a time in a house made of mud, lived a small child, as cute as a button. The winter was coming, but all she had were rags to wear. At night she slept under a small blanket she made by tying together any scraps she could not wear.

Days went by and she ran out of milk and bread. She grabbed her blanket her blanket to wear as a coat. A lady walked by and saw the poor child.

“My dear child, why don’t you have a coat on? It’s freezing out here.”

“I do not have a coat. All I have are these scraps for clothes and this blanket I made.”

“Why don’t you buy one? I see you have some money with you.”

“I need this money for food. I have none left.”

“Oh. Well, I adore your blanket, although it is only scraps. I will buy it from you.”

“But then I will have no blanket for the nights.”

“I’ll give you enough money for a jacket, a new blanket, new clothes, socks, and shoes.”

“Well, okay then.”

Sp the lady pulled out a sack of money from her cloak. She gave her over a hundred dollars for her small blanket. The small girl went to the store and bought all new clothes and good. She made her way home and put her new quilt on her bed and made herself food.. As for the lady who bought the blanket; she went home and washed it, sewed up any holes and made it bigger. She put it in a box with a hundred more dollars and a note that said:

I hope you like it. J

She set that in the box and sealed it up. She placed it on the girl’s front step, knocked on the door and walked away.
