A summary of a boating trip.

My Husband and I decided to take a trip on our small fishing boat. We prepared our poles , reels and bait . We got our Daughter and Son-in-law to drop us off at a landing up the chathawhatchee river in north Florida, about two miles from our home. From the time we launched ,my Husbands mood lightened . We started without using the motor and just drifted , throwing out our poles close to the bank. We started to catch some fish and enjoy the sights around us. The left the bank was slippery, sloping and had big green ferns growing in a spring comming right out of it. As we trolled farther down, the water had gotten deeper, there was a huge stergon that jumped up out of the water.

It made such a splash that we were amazed, It had to be at least four foot long. This is a large fish for such a small river . A few minutes later, it jumped at least two more times. I have to admit, I was a bit frightened but my husband assured me that this fish was a vegetarian ! At one place by the water both banks were rocks in the making, the bottom also had large rocks on it. We passed shallows where you could have gotten out and walked in the middle of the river. All the upper banks were lined with willows , oaks, sycamores and a few pine trees this was nature at its finest. We ancored the boat for a while , kicked back in our seats, let our reels sit in the holders and just gazed downriver. We talked like soulmates about everything and about nothing. The evening was about to end so we motored to the landing . No cell phones, home phone or anyone else to disturb the mood. The day was so relaxing, everyone should try this at least once it was a day to remember!
