A young hydrogen atom, from elementopolis comes home from school to find his parents gone and his house ransacked, he finds a glowing trail leading away from the crime scene. Not knowing who he can trust, it is up to him and his sister to find his parents, and bring the kidnapper to justice.

Chapter 1:

ELEMENTary School

There was five minutes left on my test, and I was on the third question. I was in my Math class, taking a test on fractions. The first and second question was ‘Name:’ and ‘Date:’. I’m on ‘What is a fraction?’. I knew that I would never finish the test in time. I also knew that my parents wouldn’t be very happy that. They always expected me to do good in school, because my sister was genius. She knew everything. I have never being very good in school, and my parents don’t understand why. I don’t know why either. But, I know why my sister is so smart. It is because she has a photographic memory. She doesn’t even have to study. She is a year older than me. I’m in grade seven. She is in grade eight and is a A+ student. Long story short, she is the complete opposite of me.
Well now, I’m in English class. That is why I’m writing this journal. Spring break starts tomorrow, and my teacher told everyone to write a journal on what they do over spring break. I plan to just play video games, so it should be pretty easy. Anyways, the bell is about to ring, so I have to go.
It is lunch time, and all my friends are in detention. They were caught texting in class. So, I’m really bored so I’m writing this again. Anyway, my lunch is disgusting. My mom is this health freak, so she always makes like vegetable soup and stuff like that. What I usually do is not eat it and stop at the store on my way home. But I’m waiting to get my allowance so I don’t have any money. My sister probably does, so I will beg her for something. I think she hates the soup as much as me so she will probably buy something. But I will have to walk home instead of taking the bus like I usually do. I have gym after lunch so I probably won’t be able to write anything until I get home. Surprisingly, this is kinda fun. The bell just rang so I have to go. Bye.

Chapter 2:

Ransacked and Gone

The most horrible thing happened. When my sister and I got home from the store, the house was ransacked and our parents were gone! My sister called the police right away. While we waited for them to get here. We looked around. There was nothing thing that would suggest who the intruder was. The police got there about ten minutes after we called them. They dusted the place for finger prints but found none. They said they had no idea who took them. But they promised to keep searching.
I’m now in bed writing this. The police called my aunt Indium, she doesn’t live in Elementopolis, so it took her a few hours for her to get here. We were going to stay with her until our parents were found. It was late so we weren’t going to leave for New Element( The city where my aunt lives) until morning. So much for a fun relaxing spring break. Well my aunt is telling me to go to bed now. So I gotta go.

Chapter 3:

The Light

I didn’t sleep very good last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to a nauseating glow from the hallway. I got up to see what it was. There was a greenish trail of light starting at the door to the house, and ending in my parents bed room. I didn’t have any guesses to what it was, so I woke up my sister. When she saw it, her face turned a pale and she look like she was going to be sick.
  “What is it?” I asked.
“It is residual plasma.” she replied “That can only mean one thing. The plasma king has our parents.”
I was shocked. I didn’t know what to say. The plasma king, is a evil scientist who lives way up on top of magnesium mountain. He spends his time building terrible machines. I think he is bent on world domination. Any way, back to the story.
“Why couldn’t we see it before?” I asked.
“I think that the moon light is illuminating it. Either way, I won’t last very long. It is up to us to find our parents. We have to get as far as we can tonight. The trail will be gone tomorrow night.”
“Why can’t the police do it?” I asked confused.
“You didn’t notice did you. They were acting pretty strange like they knew who it was. I think the plasma king is paying them.”
“Oh, well can we at least tell Aunt Indium?”
“If we wake her up, she will never let us go,” said my sister, by the way, her name is Holly “but we can write her a note.”
So I wrote a note to my aunt. It said ‘Dear Aunt Indium, we know who took our parents. We can’t tell you because they might hurt you, but whatever you do. DON’T PHONE THE POLICE. We will be back soon, hopefully with our parents. See you soon. Howard and Holly’
We followed the trail of light through the city. It lead to the Helium Hills. The Helium Hills are about five kilometers out of Elementopolis. We saw a couple of bicycles. We had to get the farthest possible tonight, and we wouldn’t be able to do that on foot. I know stealing is wrong, but we were going to return them. Hopefully. So it was just ‘borrowing’.
Well anyway, my sister and I are just outside Helium Hills. We are resting because it is very difficult for a Hydrogen atom to get through the Helium Hills. I think it had something to do with the fact that we are lighter than helium or something like that. I didn’t pay much attention in chemistry. Well we are ready to go, so I will write again on the other side. If I make it.
