Twins living on the opposite sides of the tracks.
Even from the pulpit to the front door of the lobby, everybody in the church Isis Morgan attended, were married. She felt so out of place that even her sister, same as she, Essence couldn’t understand it because she too was dealing with her own demons. Across town when they were away from each other they felt a connection to make them know that something was wrong. Born May 29, 1978, 3:45 a.m. Essence and Isis Morgan were inseparable. They both realized that there was poison in their lives and the question was did they really want to get out? All Isis wanted was love from a good man. Every date she had been on; she found that all the men wanted was her body. So, she used what she had to get by to pay the bills.
Essence felt that life was just worthless, and there was no reason for living. In and out of rehab, Essence acted like a child and Isis was the parent. Essence had a very good job, but she couldn’t break that habit that held her for so long. With that ongoing habit, Essence lost everything and had to move in with her sister. Essence knew she had to pull her weight. Nights not coming home, Isis went out to search for her sister only to find her sitting on a bench, face full of tears and mascara running. She looked a mess. With love in her eyes, Isis couldn’t leave her sister out on the street. This had been going on for quite some time and Isis begin to grow weary of having to keep searching for her sister the way she did. She had a job to keep.
Isis got Essence home, cleaned up and laid her on the bed. She checked all doors and windows to make sure they were securely locked. As she made her way back to the bedroom, she stopped dead in her tracks and remembered the first time she had to find her sister and was sworn to secrecy. Their parents never found out about the late nights Essence was keeping. Isis took a deep breath, said a little prayer and promised to keep Essence safe. But who was going to keep her safe? Poison was all there was, and neither one was ready to give that up.
The next morning, Essence seemed to know that her sister would take care of her and she promised that it would never happen again. How many times had Isis heard that? Too many times, but she loved and believed her sister. Isis had to go to work and suggested that Essence go with her. To her surprise, Essence said yes. Isis might even try to convince her to work there as well. Isis had to be at Angel’s at 6:30 p.m. She was never late for work, even when she had to go search for her sister. Their parents instilled in both good work ethnics. Isis made decent money. Enough to take care of two months of bills, and money left over to splurge a little bit.
Essence liked what she seen in the business and decided that this could be for her. She had never been to her sister’s job and walking in together shocked everyone that seen them both. The boss gave Essence the eye, but didn’t make a move to ask any questions.
Essence had to make the first move if she was attracted to the club well enough. So, Isis’s boss waited to see what would happen in hopes that he could have new blood in the club. Essence smiled as she walked to the front to take her seat. One by one, ladies took their turn onstage. The DJ announced them in the order of popularity. Introducing: Cocoa, Shyne, Flava, Temptress, Isis, Riza, and Alize’.
