The adventures of Salt & Pepper. This a pilot in a series of stories about two kids Salt & Pepper. It is about the growing up in a town of many characters and adventures.
It was a quiet little day in the town of Brussels.
The sun was shinning and the sky was blue,
hardly a cloud could be seen in the sky.
Over at the edge of town lived a little boy named salt.
He lived on a farm with lots of land and all kinds of
farm animals.
One day Salt was playing in the woods when he heard a
noise in the bushes. “Who’s there?” he said in a scared voice.
Suddenly a Little Black boy popped out from behind a tree.
“Why it’s me, Pepper” the small kid yelled, “and who might you be?”.
“I’m Salt,” Salt answered.
Salt and Pepper Began to play together and by the end of that
day they where close friends.
Salt asked his mom if Pepper could stay over and she said it was ok.
Pepper and Salt were full of smiles.
Supper time came and Salt and Pepper sat down to eat.
Salt’s mom served soup with soda which was what everyone
ate in the town of Brussels.
Salt and Pepper stayed up under the covers that night
looking at comic books with a flash light.
The next day while Salt’s mom watched from out the window,
Salt and Pepper walked together to the bus stop,
which was at the end of Salt’s driveway.
Salt met Garlic on the bus. He was the bully of the
neighborhood. Garlic sat behind Salt and Pepper’s seat
and kept pulling Salt’s hair, laughing, while Pepper
held his nose because of the Garlic smell.
The bus stopped and Onion got on. He sat in front of
Salt and Pepper. Onion liked to tell sad stories that made most kids cry.
When the Bus got to school Salt and Pepper ran to class
and sat down like good little boys.
The next person who came into class was Sugar, a little
girl who lived one house down the road from Pepper.
The teacher, Miss Potato, was drawing her name on the blackboard.
The class giggled when they saw her name.
“All right class,” Miss Potato said. Today we are going to learn about The word garden. Does any one here know what a Garden is?”
Sugar raised her hand and Miss Potato picked her. “Its a place where different vegetables grow,” she said.
“Good,” Miss Potato answered. “But let’s not forget flowers and fruits can grow there as well.” “Yeah, like Salt,” Garlic whispered, and the class laughed.
Pepper Didn’t laugh. he Knew Garlic wasn’t really funny because Garlic was making fun of another person.
Recess came so Salt and Pepper went outside in the playground to play. Pepper like to pretend he was Superman.
Garlic came up in front of Salt while one of his friends
bent down behind Salt. Garlic laughed as he pushed Salt over his friend onto the ground.
Salt Scratched his hands and began to cry. “Little Girl!,” Garlic yelled and walked off with his friends.
When Salt and pepper went back to school Pepper told the teacher what Garlic had done and she made Garlic sit in the corner of the room
for being a bad boy.
After school Salt and Pepper sat on the front of the bus because Garlic looked awful mad.
When salt Got home he and Pepper went down to the water to go fishing. Pepper seem to catch a lot of fish.
Salt’s mom was in her garden cutting weeds when Salt and pepper came running up from the lake. When Salt’s mom saw all the fish the two boys had caught she smiled and told them they better save some or the lake would be empty.
Salt and Pepper sat down and Salt told his mother about Garlic and how he was always picking on him. Salt’s mom hugged Salt and told him to just stay away from Garlic because he was like a bad weed. Then she sat down next to him and put her arm around him. “Salt, don’t pay any attention to bullies. We don’t all grow up at the same speed. Some kids are just mean.
You just be a good boy and remember, we reap what we sow.”
Salt and Pepper looked at Salt’s mom. “What does That mean, mom?” Salt asked. “Reap and Sow?” “Well, Salt, It’s like fishing. If you work hard at it you catch a lot and you get what you were working for. So you reaped or worked, and later you sowed or caught the fish.
Pepper Smiled and said “Yea like Your Garden. You Plant the seeds and take care of them and later you get back the stuff that grows.”
“That’s Right, Pepper,” Salts mom said, as she patted him on the head.
The next day in school Miss Potato asked the class to try to write a poem about the town of Brussels.
Salt sat down and thought really hard and started writing. After recess Miss Potato asked each of the kids to read what they had written.
Salt stood up. Miss potato asked him “What is it called Salt?”
“Brussels Sprouts”, Miss potato and he began to read.
Brussels Sprouts
Little fish swim the waters
in Schools that they curl
like a dollar to four quarters
they seem equal as they swirl
Let me tell you about a garden
called Brussels and about its Sprouts
They are kids big and small
with no size to their shouts
Some grow up like flowers
some turn out like weeds
Others Shoot up like towers
and scatter like seeds
But there all kids growing
and some day they will know
that the garden means showing
We reap what we sow.
So let’s try to be good
and remember our shouts
and do what we should
Like proud Brussels Sprouts
The whole class smiled. Even Garlic had a grin. Miss Potato took the class outside that day to look at the flowers and trees. Salt and Pepper played ball that afternoon, while Garlic and Onion planted a small garden
because they wanted to watch something grow.
