Johns Hopkins student kills burgler after attempted break-in.

At 1:20 AM a college student hears a sound coming from the garage.  There has been a string of break-ins in his neighborhood, and he doesn’t want to take any chances… So he does whatever a frightened college student would do.  He grabs his samurai sword and goes down to investigate.  He walks outside and finds Donald Rice, a man who has has been convicted of 29 crimes.  In fact, he’d been released from jail just a few days ago after serving an 18 month sentence… for you guessed it!… breaking and entering. The student confronts Rice and instructs him to “leave”.  Rice does not obey.  Instead, he lunges at the college student.  The student swiftly slices off Rices hand, and Rice flees.  The student then contacts law enforcement. Rice died not far from the scene.

No, this isn’t a scene from Quentin Tarintino’s hit movie “kill bill”.  This actually happened on September 15th, when student John Pontolillo decided to finish what law enforcment failed to do.  By killing Donald Rice, a habitual burglar.  What I failed to mention is that Pontolillo is being investigated and could be charged for murder. This guy is a vigilante. A hero.  He stood up to some thug, who didn’t learn his lesson the first 29 times, and saved the government god-knows how much money.  This student set an example and took one more criminal off the street. Think about this, Donald rice was released from prison THREE DAYS before he decided to rob a kid who’s just trying to get through college.  A kid who’s actually going somewhere in life.R

I don’t condone violence.  But in instances like this, violence is clearly justified.  Convicting Pontolillo would be a huge mistake.
