Business is Business

“So?” Don practically yelled while he impatiently toyed with his fingers as Bob came back into the room. What is taking him so long? “So what, Bob?” he didn’t even try to hide the anger in his voice. Bob wouldn’t even look at him. What did he do?!

            Almost too frightened to speak he managed the words, “I’m sorry Donny.” Bob knew how Don acted, he was crazy, a criminal. The only way I got into this mess was because of him. I knew this was a bad idea.

            “Alright,” Don sank down onto the floor by sliding down the wall in front of the cash register. Robbing the local gas station should have been an easy way to get money. Only the problem was that Bob was too chicken to shoot anyone. He is weak. He is just a useless piece of meat that doesn’t deserve to live.

            “I’m sorry Donny,” Bob repeated once more. Don stood up, gun clenched in his hand. Fear rushed through his veins. Don already shot and killed the cashier, he wouldn’t kill his accomplice, would he? He knew the answer to the question and it was an answer he dreaded.

            “Yeah?” Don, poked Bob with his gun, and immediately Bob took a step back.

            “Maybe he’s still in there,” trying anything to get out of the situation and to stay alive, Bob kept taking steps backwards each time Don came closer. Death scared him and he knew he was trying to reason with the devil himself. Death is so close that he could feel it.

            “If you think that Bob, how come you’re here?” Don could help but smile just a little knowing Bob wouldn’t be able to save himself. He caught him being a weakling, a wimp, and he knew if Bob came out alive, he would be the first one to turn Don in.
