This is a short story that I wrote when I was in about year 4, my work has got longer since then…
6500 years ago there lived a fire dragon named Vakama, who lived in the bowels of Mount Doom. Mount Doom was like a flaming hot furnace waiting to blow up, the fire dragon was the reason for this. When the volcano eventually erupted and set the monster free, it thought,
“This is the end of mankind!”
But the Gods were angry and they banished Vakama to the centre of the Earth and there he stayed.

2000 years later the Sentonians moved in around Mount Doom. They tunnelled their way into the volcano and used it as a Fire Temple because it was dormant. They worshiped the Fire God Tahu, and sacrificed one person every night to make the sun rise the next morning. The next night, the Princess Tiyaklo was to be sacrificed by being thrown into the volcano. As she fell she made a grab for safety and there she hung until morning, when the sun went out. The Sentonians were so afraid that they sent the hero of the city, Casota, into Mount Doom with only a painting. The painting was of a fire dragon because it could relight the sun with its breath. It had six powerful legs, huge feet and wings that it couldn’t use to fly because of its great weight, so Casota (knowing how big the creatures feet were) followed some huge footprints that led to the centre of the Earth, they led to the monster. Casota could hear the monster stomping around STOMP STOMP, STOMP STOMP, and sniff sniff, sniff sniff. The creature had a really good sense of smell so it could smell him from a mile away, but just when everything seemed hopeless Princess Tiyaklo ran up to him and pulled him into a cave, out of reach of the monster. The creature roared and raged, stomping around the cavern, almost as if it was trying to find something that it had lost. Then the princess pulled something from her torn, tattered dress,
“It’s called the Death Demon, it’s a legendary blade that was stolen from the king by that beast,” she said in an undertone
Casota took the sword and ran into view of the monster.
The creature suddenly span round with a loud THUMP, which knocked the blade out of his hand. He picked it back up just as the monster was about to crush him, and stabbed it in the foot. It fell to the ground with a loud roar. But was this the end? NO! The creature got back on its feet and kept trying to crush Casota, but he eventually got it under control and flew it back to the surface. He relit the sun with the dragon’s breath. Casota had also brought Princess Tiyaklo back up with him. The princess suddenly proposed to him (not normal), he accepted and they were married next day. As for Vakama, well, he lit a barbeque every night in Sentona to remind everyone of Casota’s bravery.
