This is a short story that I wrote for a school project about a man being on a stranded island and many other interesting parts.
As I awoke from a restless night, I could hear the thunderous sound of a rising storm. The waves were crashing upon my tiny sailboat. I almost instantaneously knew that I would begin to sink. I then hurried to gather as many supplies as I could. I collect three blankets, a pillow, matches, a lighter, food, my multi tool, and some family photos. The last thing I did was I sent out an S.O.S, and I hoped that someone could find me. I ran outside, and I pulled the handle on my lifeboat, which inflated it, and it came out to full capacity. I loaded up my lifeboat, and I was ready for the road ahead.
When my sailboat finally went underwater for the final time, I looked back, and all I could think about is my family back home. I just hoped and prayed that I could be saved so I could see their smiling faces again. I decided that I may have a long journey ahead of me, and I decided to get some rest.
The next morning, I woke up to find that my boat was no longer moving, and I jumped up and found that I was on an island. I pulled my boat ashore, and I wanted to see if anyone was on the same island. I figured that since it was a small island, if I shouted out, maybe someone would hear me and come help me. Nobody came, so I realized that this island was deserted somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. I saw some trees that almost looked like Miami Palm Trees. I decided to cut a few of them down so I could build a fire before it got too chilly. I used my multi tool and I cut down one, and found another that must have come down in a storm. I used the shovel from my multi tool to try and dig a huge fire pit. By the way I studied this region during the summer; there would be blistering days and chilly nights. I had to be prepared for anything. I also started digging a large hole that I would put my lifeboat over it, so I could make that like a shelter. I could store my food in there so it could stay cool. I have no idea how long I will be here, but my primary goal for today would to get a fire started. I saw something in a movie once, and they built a huge fire, and the billowing smoke got them rescued because the smoke could be spotted over a mile away. Once again, I prayed that I would be found. I decided that I should now go to bed.
I woke up in the morning to the sound of voices yelling. I thought it was a dream, and I hoped it was real. I came out of my shelter to find five people standing there and I shouted at the top of my lungs in relief. They rushed over to me and I then figured out that it was the US Coast Guard. I was so grateful that I was laughing. I then gathered everything that I had, and I leaped into the boat to take me home. I could not wait to see my family again. As I looked back at that tiny island, I knew I would never forget the hardships I went through.
