Showdown.

Water splashes up at me as I chase after Wink. There is a reoccurring gleam on his bad pinstripe suit as he passes under the street lights. I fight the urge to take aim. I don’t wanna draw unwanted attention from the cops or anyone else for that matter. I figure that if the cops haven’t already shown up then they don’t know yet.

He ducks down an alley and I press against the wall and peak around the corner. I barely avoid getting shot as I do.

“So who put you up to this?” Wink shouts as I fire blindly into the alley. “Why don’t you step out into the open so I can get a good look at you?”

Yeah that’s gonna happen. Obe and Shadow step out of my body as I reload my Beretta. It starts pouring down hard now. The sound of the rain is muffling the sound of Wink’s voice as well as any chance I have to pin pointing his location through sound. The good thing is that its also getting rid of the smell of his cheap cologne. I wont give him the satisfaction of getting any response from me. I can tell that he is getting frustrated be cause he is shooting more frequently.

“Why dont you let us take this guy?” Obe asks

“YEAHICANRUNRIGHTBYHIMANDKNOCKHIMOUTWITHOUTASECONDTOUGHT.”

“I cant always rely on you two to do all of my fighting for me. Besides, I’m the one that got shot in the arm. Now I want to repay the favor. And I cant risk putting either of you in danger as long as my arm is like this.”

“SCREWIT.I’MMAKINGAMOVE.DONTWORRYIWONTATTACKHIM.”

Shadow dashes past the alley and then runs back to us and then runs down the alley. I hear a few more shots and I hope that he hasn’t been hit. Seconds later Shadow is standing right next to me.

“HE’SSTANDINGRIGHTINTHEMIDDLEOFTHEALLEY.IT’SLIKEHE’SNOTAFRAIDOFGETTINGSHOT.”

“He lured us here because he knows that as longs as he’s in there, he has the advantage.” I smack myself in the head for not taking the shot when I had the chance. “Lets hope that the rain has blurred his vision enough.”

I jump into the entrance of the alley and take a shot. My aim is off by inches and I get shot in the leg. I land hard agents the other building and slide to the ground.

“Wow. What a wasted effort.” Wink says as he slowly steps towards me. My baretta lays just out of my reach. I could try to grab it but I would get shot in the attempt.

“Whoever wants me dead made a bad choice in the guy they sent to do the job.” Wink’s cheesy accent is so horrible that I wish he would just kill me so I can stop hearing it.

“Well this has been fun.” Wink says in a mocking tone. “Time to say good night.”

This is it. I should have just left when I had the chance. Now I’m stuck in an alley with this whack job from a B movie. I’m bleeding out of my left shoulder and right leg and for some reason I cant seem to contact Obe and Shadow. Hell of a way to end a job. Despite the fact that I am about to die, all I can think about is the hot dame in the red trench coat. I did the job she wanted. Only thing is that I wont get to tell her.

He’s standing over me now. I can see a gleam in the eye that the bullet comes out of. I also catch a gleam in the sky above Wink’s head. Probably the moon. I see one beautiful thing before I die.
