A girl, Zoe Taylor, has always felt different than other girls. Then again, she does hunt the undead. She hates the undead. Until she meets Tyler Wool. There’s more than meets the eye.

My arm hurt from where the bloodsucker bit me. My mentor, Jay, was treating it. My best friend, Isabel, sat there. Jay was cleaning it. I groaned.

” Sorry.” Jay said.

” It’s all right. But I swear to God, I am going to kill William!” I said angrily. Isabel held my hand.

” I’ll help you! If I could… which I can’t. That’s what sucks!” Isabel sighed. Little did I know, vampires were all around the school. Yes, I was a collage student. And my English teacher was my mentor (of course). We heard a crash from outside the room.

” I’ll go deal with it.” I said as I tied a bandanna around my wound and ran out of the room.

The vampire punched me.

” Didn’t your mother ever teach you manners?” I asked before I staked it.

” Don’t hit a girl.” I said. I was suddenly surrounded by vampires. They all hissed or growled or bared their teeth (which had blood on them, so obviously they’d gotten a few humans).

” Five against one. Well, not if that one is a professional at killing the five.” I said before I attacked them. I could feel one right behind me. I turned and squirted it with holy water. A few minutes later, there was only one. A brunette girl. Her green eyes were wide with fear.

” P-please don’t hurt me. I’ll do anything! Please don’t hurt me!” she cried. My eyes narrowed. Maybe, just maybe this one will change.

” Answer a few questions.” I said.

” Okay!” she sighed, seeming happy I didn’t harm her.

” What’s your name? Who sent you? Why did they send you? Are you willing to become the total opposite of a drinker-of-human-blood?” I fired all the questions at her.

” My name’s Halie Emerald. William Hindering. He sent me to kill the Huntress. And I am. I totally am. I just need help. I-I-I’d like to help you fight the evil undead.” Halie answered.

” Well, I am Zoe Taylor. I am the Huntress. And, of course you can help. But first, you need to become a vegetation vampire. Meaning you drink from animals. Because I really don’t want carnivore-type vampires in my team.” I said.

” Thank you!” she said. I took her to the English room. Jay stared. Isabel gasped.

” Guys, this is Halie. She’s willing- no, wanting- to join the team. She says she will drink from animals only. Right, Halie?” I explained.

” Yeah. I really want to.” Halie said.

” Do you realize what that means? If she betrays us, you are responsible for her.” Jay said to me.

” Jay, I have a good feeling about her.” I told him.

” Then, Halie, welcome aboard.” Jay smiled at Halie. Isabel smiled.

The next day, I ran into the new guy. Literally. Ran into him.

” Sorry!” I said, stumbling backwards. I looked at him. His eyes were hazel, his smile white.

” No, no, no. I’m sorry. I wasn’t watching.” he said.

” If you sayt so…” I sighed.

” I’m Tyler Wool.” he introduced.

” Zoe Taylor.” I smiled. From looking at him, I knew there was something. I didn’t know how much, but I knew that the something about him was dangerous.
