Student is the first stage of the Four Stages of Life.  Tommy Smith has just entered that stage. He has gone into puberty and has begun to take a liking of girls.  Tommy goes to school during the weekdays and is in the eighth grade.  When he goes to school he learns about all the basic subjects and begins to start thinking of what interests him.  Tommy likes hanging out with his friends on the weekends.  He hangs out with girls but doesn’t exactly get involved with any of them.

A normal day would consist of him waking up really early to go to school. He would learn and try to become interested in a certain subject to continue to move on to in the next stage of his life.  He comes home does some homework, which takes up most of his day. Then he has to play a sport and the sport takes up the rest of his life. By the time Tommy gets home it is time for him to go to bed. He never receives any time for him to do stuff that he would like to do himself.

On a weekend his parents make the choices of what to do. His parents drag him every, like to church, which he doesn’t fully understand the total meaning of at this point. Also he competes in sports that he may not have any interest in just to peruse his parent’s wishes.

Tommy constantly thinks about the future and wishes he would be there soon. He wants to become an adult so he may make his own rules on what he does and doesn’t do.  The future stages would only show him to look at the life he has rather than the life he will have.
