Don and Lol had been married for 5 years. at first the marriage seemed to be working well. Don would come home early as soon as he finished work. Things started changing on the sixth year when Don changed his job to become a truck driver. He would go out of the country for deliveries, infact his job entailed him to cross borders of several countries and this would take him almost a month or two before he came back to his family. Don was a good husband because he was always faithfull to his wife Lol. but then one day he gave a lift to one young lady who was quite tempting. She was still in her tender teens. Don could not resist the beauty in her. The 2500km journey that he drove from Cape town to   Harare was like 250km. He spent 5 days on the road with this girl and started having intimate relationship with her. When he got home he told his wife lots of lies. one thing he was never good at was the ability to present good lies. He had so many breakdowns along the way , so he told his wife, but Lol was too clever to notice the changing habits of her husband.

This game happened for some time over six months and Lol could not bear it any longer . She was now afraid she would contact HIV since her husband started cheating on her. Her husband now always complained of tiredness whenever she wanted him. He would go for weeks without touching or kissing her  and this was too much for Lol.

One day when her husband was preparing to go with his Haulage truck, Lol went to a nearby tuckshop and bought a pack of protectors and hide them inside the wardrobe. Her husband bade her farewell as usual without giving her a goodbye kiss. When the truck was started and began moving, Lol burst out of the house running holding the pack of protectors shouting to her husband to wait. ” Oh darling, I had forgotten to give you these, please take them in case you are tempted along the way, you know these girls who loitre along the highways” , Don was speechless, he just took the pack and threw it inside the dash board. He was too stunned to speak and did not know whether he was embarrased or thankful. Lol went inside smilling.
