Long ago there were two chickens who were complete opposite of each other.  One was very brave (Bud) while the other (Scat) was afraid of everything (even his own shadow).

Bud would pick a fight with just about everybody in the forest irrespective of size.  He lost most fights but that did not stop him.  He was always looking for someone to defeat.  Most of the creatures knew him so they didn’t hurt him too badly.

One day a blob entered the forest and sure enough Bud challenges it to a fight.  At first the blob ignored Bud.  However, when Bud kept pecking at it, it got really angry and gobbled up Bud.

Most of the creatures found it difficult to differentiate Bud from his brother except for their behavior.  They always associate the chicken with ill feelings and in time the associate chicken with Scat.  So now people who are afraid are teased with the word “Chicken”.
