A short story for children about two childhood friends.
Childhood Friends
Manu and kasim were friends since their childhood. They grew up together in the same locality and now they were studying in a school which was far from their place. They had to cross a river by boat to reach to the school. Their friendship was known to all in the school and their village.
One morning day the two set out for school as usual. They were discussing on some interesting topic. Suddenly there began a heated argument. They were exchanging abusive language. Suddenly in a fit of anger Manu pushed Kasim and he fell on the ground.Kasim was shocked that his best friend could do this him.
Kasim tore a paper took out his pen and wrote in it with words that “today my best friend hurt me.” He threw the piece of paper on which he wrote and it flew away in the wind. Both did not go to school that day. They were now returning home
Meanwhile they reached the river .Kasim stepped into the boat ,suddenly he slipped and began to drown and flow with force of water. The current of the water was very strong. Kasim was not a good swimmer . Manu seeing Kasim being washed away jumped into the river. With great difficulty he could drag and save Kasim out of the river. Next morning as they were again going to scholl as usual, Kasim wrote wrote on the hill walls with words that “ today my friend saved me”
Seeing all these Manu just could not help asking “why did you write it on a piece of paper that was blown away in the wind when I pushed and hurt you and now why are you writing on the hill when I’ve saved your life?” Kasim replied that “ things done wrong to each other should be forgotten but good things done should always be remembered”. The kindness we do just as writing on stones is for ever.” Impressed Manu hugged Kasim and asked for forgiveness.
