My mom told me a story about a little girl and her the chipmunk. This is the story only I didn’t put in the part about the chipmunk getting hit by the car. She told this to me because I wasn’t listening to her at the time. I still remeber the story and will pass it down to my kids one day. I hope you and your childern enjoy this story.
Annie and Chip are best friends. They go to school together, play and so much more. They would play in Annie’s backyard after school. They loved play soccer and would play it the most. Annie’s mom would always tell not to play in the front yard because of the cars that would go by.
One day Annie and Chip were playing hide and seek in the house due to it raining. Nevertheless, once they had their snacks the rain had stopped so they headed out. However, Annie’s mom wasn’t home at the time and the babysitter was watching TV. So no one reminded them about playing in the front yard. They were playing soccer in the back yard for awhile, but when Annie kicked the ball to hard it flew over the fence to the front of the house. Chip and Annie looked over the fence and saw that the ball was at the edge of the road. I’ll get it, Chip told Annie. Even so, she told him that maybe they should go get the babysitter. No, Chip said it wouldn’t take him that long to go and get the ball. So Annie watched him walk out to the front yard, but just when Chip got to the edge of the road, the breeze kicked up and the ball rolled on to the road. Chip looked back to Annie then headed onto the road. He picked up the ball and started to head back when Annie saw the car coming down the road. She tried yelling to Chip, but she was too far away for him to hear. The car was getting closer, and Annie didn’t know what to do. However, Annie heard a noise and saw their babysitter running towards the road and grabbed Chip just before the car got to the front of their yard.
Once they were back to where Annie was standing the babysitter had them go inside. When they were inside and sitting on the couch their babysitter asked if they were allowed in the front yard. Shaking their heads the sitter asked if they knew why. Annie said that her mom told them because of the cars that go by. The sitter asked why Chip was in the front, and he said that the ball had gone over the fence, and he was getting it. However, the wind blew it in the road, and so he went ahead to get it. The sitter asked if he looked before going onto the road and Chip shook his head. After telling them that they should have come and gotten her the sitter had them go up stairs and write down why they weren’t allowed in the front yard. Later that day when Annie’s mom was home she heard about what had happened and sat them down and told them about the dangers of not listening to what she had told them. Chip could have been hurt, she told them, and from this day forwards no matter what if something happens to either get her or the sitter. After that day Annie and Chip played in the back yard, but when the ball would go over the fence they went and got Annie’s or the babysitter.
